All the Doctors at Bideford Medical
Centre perform minor surgical procedures such as excision, cryotherapy or
curettage and cautery of skin
lesions, ingrowing toenail removal and dermoid cyst removal.
They have all been approved by our local PCT to perform such surgery.
Dr Ragaii Loka trained and qualified in
general surgery prior to becoming a General Practitioner.
As such he enjoys performing more complex surgical procedures upon BMC
patients referred by the other Doctors in the practice.
Dr Loka provides vasectomies and
injection of haemorrhoids (piles) as an enhanced service of Bideford Medical
Centre, and patients can be referred for these from all the GP surgeries in
North Devon
. In the future Dr Loka hopes to
expand the service we offer our community further by undertaking carpal tunnel
surgery and repair of inguinal hernias.
At the Medical Centre we have a purpose
built fully equipped minor surgery room with fitted ceiling mounted operating
light, operating couch, all emergency equipment including oxygen cylinder,
cardiac monitor, pulse oximeter and defibrillator.
Our practice uses a sterile pack for each procedure, supplied by CSSD at
North
Devon
District
Hospital.
If you are interested in having a
vasectomy or injection of piles please see your GP to discuss the procedure,
your doctor will fully inform you about what to expect and refer you on to Dr
Loka as necessary.
