Premises Upgrade from 8 January 2007

On the 8th of January we commenced an upgrade project to replace the one-storey flat roof area currently housing the Reception, waiting Area and Admin office with a two-storey structure to link up with the existing building.

What the upgrade project will provide:

The upgrade will provide a two-storey structure with a new pitched-roof to link up with the existing building. It will provide a new Reception, Waiting Area, 5 consulting rooms, 3 examination rooms and a larger pharmacy on the ground floor. The Admin Office, patient records room computer server room will be relocated upstairs to release the much needed space on the ground floor for patient care. The new larger Health Education Room will be used for ante-natal classes, group smoking cessation classes, group psychotherapy sessions and baby drop in clinics.

The existing health education room will be changed into two consulting rooms for either doctors, nurses or a psychotherapist/counsellor. This will also allow us to be more involved in the training of GP Registrars and medical students with the spare accommodation for an additional GP Registrar and medical students.

Staff and patients will benefit from having a comfortable waiting area, a new reception which meets the Disability Access legislation, a larger pharmacy which will provide personal and confidential consultation and more multi-purpose consulting rooms.

Time-scale:

The upgrade project will last for 30 weeks. The building work is expected to be completed by mid August 2007.

Parking:

During this time there will be severe restriction on parking as parking spaces will be very limited on site. We would be very grateful if you could use alternative means of transport such as buses, taxis, car share or lift with friends or relatives. Please allow extra time for transport when you come to see the doctors and nurses.

Temporary Accommodation:

We will use a portakabin as the main Reception and Waiting Area. Lloyds Pharmacy will be operating in their specialised pharmacy portakabin next to the Pharmacy. The Reception and Waiting Area for the Treatment Room will be in the existing Health Education Room.  A walk-way will be built from the two portakabins to lead to the Doctors and Treatment Room Areas.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused during the building period.
We thank you for your understanding and co-operation.
